While travelling and living in differents parts of the world, we discover a huge varitey of cultural differences - especially when it comes to food. But in an accelerated environment we loose the relation to traditional food, and the knowledge about creating something delicious out of it. People are overwhelmed by the offer. They look for simple, transparent solutions. They would love to share and exchange their ideas to provide a healthy and balanced diet. I used these insights learned in countless conversations from all over the world to create a platform for cultural and culinary exchange. It's simply called 'Food Around the World'.
I started this project with a broad research at SMART DESIGN in New York and designed a whole system to find solutions for this challenging topic. Watch the video below to get the full story.

Every two years there is a competition between students from universities all over Germany and Switzerland. The aim is to build a vehicle which is driven only by a cordless-screw-driver and controlled by one person over a certain circuit. A small group of students from our faculty and me decided to take part on this event. Designing this racer required very good teamwork, technical knowledge, and a lot of experiments and passion. We came up with a lightweight-concept build out of aluminium and a innovative material called ‚Kraftplex‘. Building an eco-friendly vehicle is really good fun...winning the light-weight-price as well.

In cooperation with the company ‚Villeroy & Boch‘ I worked on a future scenario for the year 2023. The focal point therefore was 'table culture'. My concept combines a dinning table which allows you to serve, cook and prepare your meals with smart cooking elements and a water system for plants and herbs. The food still remains in the foreground. The design of the table is minimal and classic. The technical components are hidden under a solid wood plate.

Our costumer asked for a foldable, urban vehicle with three tires, a very low access situation for people with movement restrictions and a optional pedelec motor support. In a team of three design students we developed an E-Trike for everybody. With it‘s modular and low weight structure, easy handling, flexibility and variety it is the perfect attendant for everyday occurrences.

This idea combines the characteristics of molded plywood and dynamic sitting. ‚Johnny‘ supports a healthy sitting position in an innovative and playful way. The production and assembling of the cahir is both eco friendly and low-cost. Five equal wooden parts get connected over a plastic bottom and a smart metal plate on the top.

In collaboration with my fellow student Cornelia Ernst we designed ‚Flow‘. A convincing kitchen scale, wich can be manufactured in three different production varieties. The benefits of our scale are a clear and understandable use of forms and a clever functionality. The topcover is also working as a detachable bowl for ingredients. Afterwards you can put it into your dish washer.

„Voll auf die Nüsse“ is a solid nutcracker for real men. Genuine materials like aluminium and wood, a strong lever to crack nuts and geometric bodies. My colleague Andreas Korte and me designed a remarkable nutcracker wich will be presented on the table and doesn‘t disappear in a dark drawer.

Within this project my fellow student Sebastian Markovic and me designed a molded plywood furniture for waiting areas. Especially for bus and train stops. You can use it as an a common chair. And when the wheater conditions are bad and the seats are cold and wet you might be happy that you can also lean against it‘s cosy part on the middle of the chair. It is a new interpretation of waiting areas and enables a lot of new possibilties.

BASF Design Contest
Developing an entire new car seat with new innovative materials from BASF. The characteristics of this materials fulfill all claims for an off-road car seat. Highlighting the suspension part made out of E-TPU, which provides comfortable seating in every situation. The combination of strong and flexible materials also creates a high level of safety in the car. The core message of my design is: ‘Inspired by nature‘. If we open our mind, we realize that the best solutions are still given by nature. Let‘s use this inexhaustible source of inspiration to provide innovative, challenging solutions.
I created these two baby products during an internship at Smart Design. Together with the company Oxo and my colleagues at Smart we featured them on the American market in 2015/16.
